The Landesoberkasse Baden-Württemberg is the central state and court cash office as well as the official cash office for all state offices without their own cash office. It carries out cash transactions for around 1,800 authorities, courts, public prosecutors' offices and other departments and institutions of the state. This includes bookkeeping, payment transactions and the dunning and enforcement system. The Landesoberkasse Baden-Württemberg is involved in the implementation of the state budget for all budget revenue and expenditure. It is also responsible for settlements with the federal government, municipalities and churches.

Tasks
The Landesoberkasse Baden-Württemberg is a single treasury and central state treasury within the meaning of paragraphs 2 and 3 of Section 79 of the State Budget Code, as well as a court treasury within the meaning of the relevant legal and administrative regulations. In these functions, it handles interdepartmental payment transactions, bookkeeping, dunning, including the collection of public and private law claims of the state, as well as the business of a deposit fund within the meaning of the deposit regulations and the safekeeping of valuables within the meaning of the state budget regulations for authorities, courts, public prosecutors' offices, schools and other offices and institutions of the state.

- Central Office
- Principle: Cross-sectional tasks that require a comprehensive overview of the state administration in general and of the accounting system and work processes in the state budget, cash and accounting system in particular.
- Management of the budget of the Landesoberkasse Baden-Württemberg and controlling

- Office: personnel support and ensuring proper service operations, property management
- Automated data processing: IT processing (e.g. database management, form design, maintenance and servicing of programs, program tests, user support, database evaluations, operating (e.g. processing of job logs, error log processing, master data maintenance).
- Payment transactions: cash disposition and account management, checking daily financial statements, domestic and foreign payments, inquiries.
- Bookkeeping: processing the accounts of paying agents at universities of applied sciences, reconciliation of the working capital accounts of the state institutions preparing their accounts, special accounting (e.g. church tax), special procedures (e.g. housing benefit, BAföG), clarification and processing of unallocated incoming payments, processing of interest deposits and proceeds from forced auctions.
- Dunning and enforcement: collection of public and private law receivables, collection of fines (traffic offenses on federal highways).
- Cash transactions for accounting state institutions: Processing of non-cash payment transactions, clarification and processing of payments that cannot be assigned by machine, collection of claims under public and private law, monthly closing of working capital accounts.

Many invoices from the state administration can be paid online via the state-wide payment page by credit card (Visa, Mastercard) or PayPal. The amount limit is 5,000 euros. If the online payment option is available, a corresponding note will appear on the invoice.
The payment page can be accessed via a link, a QR code or by directly entering the address: bezahlen-bw.de in the web browser.
