Taxes
The tax department is divided into five divisions with different areas of focus. It supports and supervises the country's 65 tax offices in the assessment and collection of taxes. The tax offices currently administer a total of 12 different taxes and the research allowance. These are federal taxes, state taxes and community taxes. In 2024, the total tax revenue amounted to approx. 96.2 billion euros. The increasingly extensive and complicated tax legislation is leading to a growing need for information on the part of tax offices, businesses and citizens. For this reason, the tax department team fulfills an important, wide-ranging service and information function in addition to the technical and specialist supervision of the tax offices.
