Dr. Bernd Kraft studied law at the University of Tübingen, where he also obtained his doctorate after completing his legal training. From 1993 to 1997, he worked as a lawyer and managing director of a tax consultancy firm.
He joined the tax authorities in 1997 at the Böblingen tax office. From 2001, Dr. Kraft worked at the OFD, including as personal advisor to the Chief Finance President. in 2003, he moved to the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of Finance and headed up the New Steering department at the NeStU staff unit, among other things.
In 2010, Dr. Kraft was appointed head of the Leonberg tax office.
From 2013, this was followed by three years as head of the staff unit of the Chief Finance President at the OFD and as head of the personnel department at the Ministry of Finance, before he became President of the Baden-Württemberg State Office for Remuneration and Pensions in 2019.
After further positions at the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport and the Ministry of Finance, Dr. Kraft was officially inaugurated as Chief Finance President on 5 July 2023.
